Italian Style Chopped Sandwich
Ingredients:
- 1 baguette or Italian roll
- 4 oz (about 113g) Italian salami, thinly sliced
- 4 oz (about 113g) ham, thinly sliced
- 4 oz (about 113g) provolone cheese, sliced
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/2 cup black olives, sliced
- 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup banana peppers, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Olive oil
- Balsamic glaze (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Cut the baguette or Italian roll in half lengthwise.
- Layer the Italian salami, ham, and provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
- Top the meats and cheese with cherry tomatoes, black olives, red onion, banana peppers, and fresh basil leaves.
- Drizzle olive oil over the toppings and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Place the top half of the bread on the sandwich.
- Press down on the sandwich slightly and wrap it tightly in parchment paper or foil.
- Allow the sandwich to sit for a few minutes to let the flavors meld.
- Optionally, drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.
- Slice the sandwich into smaller portions, if desired.
