Perfect Chicken Gimbap
Ingredients:
- Sushi Rice:
- 2 cups cooked short-grain rice
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Chicken Filling:
- 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Vegetables:
- 4 sheets roasted seaweed (gim/nori)
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1 cucumber, julienned
- 1 avocado, sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Dipping Sauce:
- Soy sauce
- Wasabi (optional)
Steps:
Step 1: Prepare Sushi Rice
- Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Fold into cooked rice, allowing it to cool.
Step 2: Season Chicken
- Combine shredded chicken with soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and garlic powder. Set aside.
Step 3: Assemble Gimbap
- Place a sheet of seaweed on a bamboo sushi mat.
- Spread a thin layer of sushi rice, leaving a small border.
- Arrange chicken, carrot, cucumber, and avocado along one edge.
- Roll tightly using the sushi mat.
Step 4: Slice and Garnish
- Slice the rolled gimbap into bite-sized pieces.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds for an added crunch.
Step 5: Serve with Dipping Sauce
- Mix soy sauce with wasabi if desired, for a flavorful dipping experience.
